The "Full Moon" on course for success
"Cast off" was the motto on Friday evening at the largest sailing regatta on Lake Constance with over 200 participants. The Lindauer Segler-Club e.V. organised the popular long-distance night regatta around Lake Constance again this year, "Rund Um" for short. This year we took part with our sponsored sailing yacht "Full Moon", a M34. The boat will be steered in 2018 by a skipper from the Dieter Kubeth family. The "Full Moon" covered the distance of 100 kilometres in an excellent time of 12 hours - in the overall ranking we made 13th place.
The competition for the sailing Oscar, the Blue Ribbon, began against the impressive backdrop of the Alps at the Lindau harbour. The starting signal was given punctually at 7.30 pm on the Hohentwiel - the only and oldest steamboat still in operation on Lake Constance. At first, however, the sailors had to struggle with starting difficulties. Due to a lack of wind, progress was rather slow at first - some of the boats did not cross the starting line for half an hour. A short time later the crews were lucky and a thunderstorm front provided stronger wind. Overnight the skippers and their crews then navigated the sailing boats via Romanshorn, Eichhorn and Überlingen back to Lindau.
